Mobile account consolidation and 25% monthly savings

Founded in 1965, Datacom started as a family business, and now employs over 6,200 people with a revenue of $1.3 billion (2020). Datacom is one of Australasia’s largest professional IT services companies. Datacom has extensive expertise in the operation of contact centres, data centres, the provision of IT services, software engineering and application management, as well as payroll and customer service design and operations.

Not all tech companies are telecommunications providers or experts, but they do in fact require telecommunications to operate. GROWIFY was granted the opportunity to work with Datacom to help consolidate accounts, reduce overall costs, gain more value and streamline the management of mobile telecommunications for the Australian branch.

GROWIFY worked closely with the Group Procurement Manager from Datacom (Tony Rurkpuritat (MCIPS) Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional) and started by providing a full telecommunications audit, understanding what devices they were paying for, who in the business was using them and how much they were paying versus what they should be paying.

Once the audit was complete, GROWIFY was able to create the following:

  • Asset registry of all devices, including the respective users for each device

  • Unused plans, and devices report

  • Cost report including a complete break down of cost per device and plan

  • Data consumption report including which users were consuming the most data

  • Cost comparison report (current costs vs new proposed costs), including value comparison and potential cost savings

From these reports and information, GROWIFY was able to learn that Datacom was spending a minimum of $5,037 per month on mobile telecommunications. With the help of the telecommunications audit, we were able to provide the following mobile telecommunications solution:

  • 06 x International Direct Dialling (IDD) Plan at $70 each p/m ($420)

  • 44 x National Plans at $60 each p/m ($2,640)

  • 31 x National Data Sims at $25 each p/m ($775)

  • New shared data pool of 1,855 GB (1.855 TB)

  • New monthly billing costs of $3835 per month (Saving $1,202 per month or $14,424 over 12 months - approx. 25%)

Apart from these cost savings and increased value by adding more shared data, Datacom now has support from GROWIFY as a local, dedicated telecommunications provider, rather than dealing with multiple telecommunications providers and overseas support.
